Born in the former GDR, Max von Gleichen developed an early sensitivity to form, typography, and craftsmanship, alongside a passion for literature and writing. After the reunification of Germany, he studied design and typography in Prague and later deepened his intellectual interests in Paris, before pursuing philosophy and German studies in Bonn. Extensive study trips, particularly to Asia, allowed him to explore artistic traditions and design techniques. Today, Max lives a secluded life on the outskirts of Leipzig, dedicating himself to the design of artist publications, layouts, and writing his own art-related texts. His work focuses on the harmonious integration of craftsmanship, aesthetics, and narrative power — a persona who quietly supports other artists, subtly shaping and enhancing their visions.
